Police block off M-20 east of Oceana Drive, Jan. 7, due the head-on crash that ultimately took the life of a 19-year-old Hart man.

SHELBY TWP. — Joshua Wright, the 19-year-old Hart man critically injured in a head-on crash on M-20 the morning of Jan. 7, was taken off life support Saturday, Jan. 10, and has died, the Hart post of the Michigan State Police confirmed Tuesday, Jan. 13.

The crash, which occurred at approximately 8 a.m., shut down M-20 near 88th Avenue.

Wright was pinned in the wreckage of his vehicle and had to be extricated before being transported to Mercy Health Lakeshore Campus in Shelby and then transferred to Mercy Health Hackley Campus in Muskegon for advanced care.

The driver of the second vehicle suffered minor injuries and was treated and released at the Shelby hospital.

“Poor visibility and weather conditions may have been factors,” an MSP press release stated.
