78th District Court Sentencings

HART – The following were sentenced recently in 78th District Court:

–      Tom Allen Griffes, 50, of 55 1st St., Kent City, was convicted by a jury Nov. 25 of operating while impaired by liquor, second offense. He was sentenced to nine days in jail; one year discretionary jail; $1,765 in fines and costs; six months probation; not to purchase/possess a firearm; no alcohol/drugs; and subject to counseling, testing and searches. Conviction reportable to SOS.

–      Jenny Lyn Stark, 37, of 176 Greenfield Dr., Ionia, was found guilty Jan. 5 of failure to return rented property less than $200. She was sentenced to $528 in fines, costs and restitution and 93 days discretionary jail.

–      Amanda Kaykali Kissling, 24, of 5312 S. 90th Ave., New Era, was found guilty Jan. 5 of non-sufficient funds over $100/less than $500. She was sentenced to $654 in restitution; $150 in fines and costs; and one year discretionary jail.

–      Melissa Ann Gray, 44, of 1887 E. Fish Rd., Shelby, was found guilty Jan. 5 of operating while impaired. She was sentenced to $1,105 in fines, costs and restitution; 93 days discretionary jail; and must complete substance abuse evaluation. One count of operating while intoxicated was dismissed. Conviction reportable to the Secretary of State (SOS).

–      Maribell Coronel, 32, of 110 W. 16th St., Apt. 2, Holland, was found guilty Jan. 5 of third-degree retail fraud. She was sentenced to $454 in fines, costs and restitution and 93 days discretionary jail.

–      Justin Seth Studer, 21, of 2230 E. Ferry St., Shelby, was found guilty Jan. 5 of operating while impaired. He was sentenced to 93 days discretionary jail; must complete substance abuse evaluation within 60 days; and $1,055 in fines and costs. Conviction reportable to SOS. One count of operating while intoxicated was dismissed.

–      Syera Mae Wendt, 28, of 3286 W. First St., Ludington, was found guilty Jan. 5 of operating with a high blood alcohol content (BAC)/super drunk. She was sentenced to 180 days discretionary jail and $1,305 in fines and costs. Conviction reportable to SOS. One count of OUL – occupant under 16 years and one count of disorderly person – obscene conduct were dismissed.

–      Nicholas John Erickson, 36, of 69 S. 56th Ave., Shelby, was found guilty Jan. 5 of disorderly person – jostling. He was sentenced to $450 in fines and costs and 90 days discretionary jail.

–      Megan Elise Agustine, 26, of 4794 N. Oceana Dr., Hart, was found guilty Jan. 5 of allowing a person to drive in violation and sentenced to 90 days discretionary jail and $400 in fines and costs. One count of DWLS, second offense, dismissed.

–      Stephanie Marie Christman, 42, of 925 Lavinia St., Ludington, pleaded no contest Nov. 24 to assault and battery. She was sentenced to 93 days discretionary jail and $450 in fines and costs. One count of aggravated assault was dismissed.

–      Joseph Allen Earl, 31, of 349 Adams Rd., Hesperia, pleaded no contest to attempted assaulting/resisting/obstructing a police officer. He was sentenced to 93 days discretionary jail and $490 in fines and costs. One count of disorderly person – drunk dismissed.
