BLUE LAKE TWP. (MUSKEGON COUNTY) — A 36-year-old Montague woman died in a single-vehicle crash on Russell Road near Owasippe Road Sunday night, Dec. 21, according to the Muskegon County Sheriff’s Office.
She was declared dead at the scene, said Lt. Shane Brown.
Police were still sorting out the details of the horrific crash Monday afternoon. Brown said drugs may have been a factor, and police are awaiting lab results.
The woman who died was a passenger in the 1999 Dodge Durango. The driver is a 37-year-old Montague man. Also in the vehicle were a 28-year-old Shelby woman and a 34-year-old Newaygo man, Brown said. All three who survived the crash, which occurred shortly before 11 p.m., suffered non-life-threatening injuries, Brown said. One individual was taken to Hackley Hospital in Muskegon.
Blue Lake Fire Department and Pro Med Ambulance also responded to the scene, Brown said, and Aeromed was put on standby but later cancelled.
The stretch of road where the crash occurred has a lot of curves, he said.
No other details were immediately available. “We are waiting until the investigation is complete,” Brown said.
