GRANT TWP. — Detectives from the Oceana County Sheriff’s Office have obtained a warrant for a New Era man who they say was involved in a break-in that resulted in the theft of a snowmobile, snowmobile trailer, several guns and many other items.
The snowmobile, the trailer and a few of the other stolen items were recovered outside a residence in rural Muskegon County. Deputies and detectives from the Muskegon County Sheriff’s Office have assisted in the investigation, which remains open.
“On Dec. 15, 2014, Oceana County Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to a barn and shop in the 8300 block of South 64th Avenue in Grant Township of Oceana County to investigate a breaking and entering complaint,” states an OCSO press release. “Deputies found that two local gentlemen had discovered their barn and shop had been broken into and several items were stolen. These items include:
– 1 2011 Ski-doo Renegade 1200 snowmobile
– 1 snowmobile trailer with custom nose and sides
– 1 .12 gauge shotgun
– 2 Ruger 10/22 rifles
– 1 deer rifle
– 1 bolt action .22 rifle
– 2 revolvers, a .22 and a .357
– 1 self leveling laser
– 1 Husqvarna 345 chainsaw
– 1 Husqvarna 555 chainsaw
– 1 generator
– 1 laptop computer
“During the investigation, it was found that over the evening the theft occurred,” the press release continues. “The license plate from the snowmobile trailer was ran by a Muskegon County deputy. Detectives from Oceana County, along with Muskegon County, assisted the investigating deputies and found the stolen trailer along with several other items of stolen property outside of a residence in rural Muskegon County. Items recovered include the snowmobile and trailer, the chainsaws and the generator. Oceana County detectives have obtained a felony warrant for a New Era man for his involvement in this. The investigation remains open.”
