BROOKS TWP (Newaygo Co.) — State police troopers discovered four and a half pounds of marijuana at a residence Saturday, Nov. 15, while investigating an assault complaint, according to a press release issued by MSP.
“A 55-year-old Newaygo County man has been arrested by troopers from the Michigan State Police, Hart post, for domestic violence and possession with intent to deliver marijuana,” the press release states. The suspect is lodged in the Newaygo County Jail.
“Troopers were called to a home in Newaygo County’s Brooks Township on November 14, 2014 to investigate an assault complaint,” the press release states. “During their investigation, troopers learned that the adult-aged son was assaulted by his father. The 55-year-old suspect had left the scene prior to the arrival of the troopers. On November 15, 2014, troopers went to the home of the suspect to speak with him about the incident that was reported hours before.” During their investigation, troopers discovered four and a half pounds of marijuana.
Possession with intent to deliver marijuana is a felony punishable by up to four years in prison, and domestic violence is a misdemeanor punishable by up to 93 days in jail.
The suspect’s name is being withheld pending arraignment.
