BEAVER TWP. — A woman who was severely burned in a trailer fire Sunday morning, Nov. 2, at the corner of Dickinson and Eight Mile roads was airlifted from the scene, and the trailer was completely destroyed.

Hesperia and Walkerville fire departments and Promed Ambulance were called to the scene, which is located just across the county line in Newaygo County, shortly before 9 a.m. The woman, whose age was not immediately available, was flown by Aeromed for treatment in Grand Rapids, said Hesperia Fire Chief Dwayne Tinkham. The woman somehow managed to get out of the trailer before fire personnel arrived. The trailer was fully engulfed when fire crews arrived, the chief said.fire 4

The trailer, which appeared to be an older model, was completely burned and is a “total loss,” Tinkham said. It was not immediately known what caused the blaze and whether the trailer was covered by insurance. Five Hesperia fire trucks and three Walkerville units responded to the scene.

A few hours later, Grant and Ferry fire departments were called to a structure fire at 2045 S. 144th Ave. near Pierce Road in Ferry Township. It was reported that smoke was coming from the roof of the structure. No other details about that fire are immediately available.
