HART TWP — Four teenagers are lucky that they avoided serious injuries after the 2001 Pontiac Grand Am they were traveling in on North Oceana Drive near Scout Road Monday night flipped over several times.

Alberto Clair Moul, 19, of 1489 N Oceana Dr., Hart, lost control of the vehicle after swerving to avoid a deer, according to the Oceana County Sheriff’s Office accident report that was released Wednesday.

Two back seat passengers were not wearing their seatbelts and received minor injuries in the 9:40 p.m. crash — Amador Estrada, 18, of 249 WestNorth St., Walkerville, and Denise Bridgit Trevino, 14, of 718 S. Courtland St., Hart.

Both Moul and front seat passenger, Lionnel Estrada, 15, of 249 WestNorth St., Walkerville, were wearing their seatbelts and were not injured in the crash.

Moul stated “he observed a deer and drove left of center,” the accident report states. “There was another vehicle coming, and he turned back to right and lost control of vehicle. The vehicle left the roadway and overturned several times. Driver estimated speed at 60 mph.”

In addition to OCSO, Hart Area Fire Department and Oceana County EMS were called to the scene. When the accident was toned out on the emergency radio, the dispatcher indicated that the vehicle was back on its wheels, but still partially in the roadway. It was classified as a “priority 2 medical response,” and the dispatcher said the accident victims suffered facial cuts.

Approximately an hour after the Oceana Drive crash, another rollover accident at Washington Road and 188th Avenue in Colfax Township was toned out on the radio at 10:51 p.m. The dispatcher said it was a rollover accident with unknown injuries. Oceana County EMS, Walkerville Area Fire Rescue and the Hart post of the Michigan State Police were called to the scene. The crash resulted in an operating while intoxicated arrest, state police said Tuesday. The accident report was not complete as of Wednesday morning.
