HART — Safe Kids West Michigan Booster Seat Check Event is set for Monday from 5-7 p.m. at Hansen Foods.
The event coincides with Child Passenger Safety Week next week.
Car crashes are a leading cause of death for children under 13 years old. The best way to prevent a car-related injury is to make sure your child is in the correct car seat or booster for their size and age.
Safe Kids West Michigan helps parents keep little ones safe on the road. Join them for a booster seat safety event where nationally-certified technicians will be available to answer your questions.
Kids shorter than 4 ft. 9 in. should be riding in a booster seat or car seat.
Over 90 percent of car seats in Muskegon are not used or installed correctly, according to Safe Kids West Michigan, and 73 percent nationally are not properly used. A correctly-used car seat reduces the risk of death by 50-70 percent.
Call the Safe Kids West Michigan hotline at 231-672-3968 to schedule a car seat check if you are unable to participate in Monday’s local event. For more information, visit safekids.org or facebook/safekidswestmichigan.
