PENTWATER – The Women Who Care of Oceana County will have their next quarterly meeting Tuesday, Sept. 9, from 5:30-6:30 p.m. at Gull Landing..
“The word is getting out that this is a simple and significant way to support those in need in Oceana County,” said spokeswoman Gina Ferwerda of Silver Lake. “We are hopeful of welcoming our 100th member at the Sept. 9 meeting.”
With 95 members and counting, the women meet for an hour; learn about three worthy causes serving Oceana County residents; and choose one that everyone agrees to support with $100 personal checks. Networking and socializing follows for those who have the time to stay.
At the last meeting June 3, the women chose to have members write $100 personal checks to Love Inc. Love Inc. is a collaboration between local churches and the Oceana community providing effective help for neighbors in need. Volunteers specialize in connecting to individuals in a relational way to provide encouragement and connections to help solve problems. Executive Director Lori Ray described the WWC donation as “a game changer.”
“This money goes a long way to meet our annual budgeted expenses,” Ray said. “It allows us to keep the doors open to continue to serve people with needs in Oceana County”.
Membership is open to any woman who wants to be involved in this unique, joint effort to support Oceana causes. For more information, contact Amy LaBarge at 313.268.2086, or at facebook.womenwhocareofoceanacounty.
