HART — A new chief assistant prosecutor who has over 25 years experience working as a prosecutor was hired earlier this month by the Oceana County Prosecutor’s Office.
Jeffrey Kabot was set to begin duties as early as this week, Oceana County Prosecutor Joe Bizon said, at a starting salary of $65,000.
The experienced prosecutor has worked in several Michigan counties, including Oakland, Calhoun, Campbell, Shiawassee, Saginaw and Kalamazoo, Bizon said. Bizon and Kabot worked briefly together in Calhoun County in 2001, the prosecutor said. “He’s a very experienced prosecutor with a great reputation and I’m very excited to bring him and his experience here,” he said. Kabot graduated from the Michigan State University Law School.
The new chief assistant prosecutor replaces Erin Fisher, who resigned from the position last month to work as an associate attorney at Springstead Law Offices in Hart.
