Shake, Wag ‘n Roll Benefit Stroll helps LASSI

unnamedPENTWATER — Local Animal Shelter Support, Inc. is hosting the Shake, Wag ‘n Roll Benefit Stroll this Saturday at the Village Green and Gazebo.

Proceeds benefit LASSI, which provides veterinary care for stray, abandoned, neglected, abused and injured Oceana County pets.

Participants in contests and the stroll must register and donate to the cause of helping companion animals. Pet owners with well-behaved pet(s) are invited to participate. Registration forms are available by contacting pentwater.org ;email: mi.lassi@yahoo.com; or 231-794-8248.

Donations of any amount are appreciated, however pre-registered participants with pet 1donations of $20 or more per person will receive a LASSI Loop 5K t-shirt and a LASSI bandana for the participating pet. Make checks payable to LASSI.

The Shake, Wag ‘n Roll Benefit Stroll is a one-mile casual stroll through the Village of Pentwater that starts and ends at the Village Green and goes to the pet beach at Mears State Park by the Pentwater Channel. Family pet events, including an pet/master look-alike contest, on the Village Green follow the stroll. The event features Oceana County 4-H dog agility demonstrations, dog obedience and dog dancing. Dogs, cats, sheep, goats and horses, all with appropriate pooper scoopers, are invited to participate.

Schedule of events

9 a.m. to 1 p.m.: Silent auction

9-9:30 a.m.: Registration

9-10:15 a.m.: Shake, Wag ‘n Roll Benefit Stroll and family pet contests (registration/donation required)

10 a.m. to noon: 4-H Dog Club agility demonstrations, family pet contests and dog dancing demonstrations.

Noon to 1 p.m.: Oceana County Animal Shelter Mutt Strut, showcasing adoptable shelter dogs and cats. See Available Pets.

Human participants must be at least 18 years of age, and pets must be leashed; have up-to-date vaccinations; be well-socialized to people and other pets; and have no history of aggression.
