HART — Oceana Summer Youth Theatre will present a fantastic fairy tale medley of “Into the Woods” the weekend of Aug. 8-10 at Hart Public Schools Auditorium.
The play by Stephen Sondheim has won three Tony awards, and is currently being made into a film version starring Meryl Streep, Johnny Depp, and Anna Kendrick set to come out in theaters on Christmas Day.
The tale focuses on several classic and beloved fairy tales, including “Cinderella,” “Little Red Riding Hood,” “Jack and the Beanstalk,” and many more, teaching audiences that happy endings are not all that they seem, and that “witches can be right; giants can be good.” The story and breathtaking music will leave audiences laughing and crying the whole evening.
Show times are Friday, Aug. 8, and Saturday, Aug. 9, at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, Aug. 10, at 2 p.m. Tickets, which are $8 for adults and $5 for students, will be available at the door.
The talented cast includes local students Juan Lugo, Abby Cook, Kyler McQuesten, Haley Walsworth, Carlos Ortega, Isabel Vela, Riley Carskadon, Brooke Schulz, Tessa Holzwart, Armando Gonzalez, Marna Jonassen, Maggie Moul, Andrew Wiegand, Lauren Hegedus, Karla Ortega, Dakotah Cutter, Luis Lugo, Olivia Smith, Grace Smith and Verily McClellan.
The auditorium is located in Hart Middle School.
