Hart extends school year

March 14, 2014

HART — Hart Public Schools has announced its plan to make up this year’s snow days. The school year will now end on June 6. June 3 and 4 will now become full days while June 5 and 6 will become half days. Good Friday, June 5 and June 6 will also include an additional 20 minutes of instruction.

Each building principal will determine how the additional 20 minutes of instruction is distributed throughout the day. The district has purposefully created leeway in case of other unforeseen delays or cancellations.

The district is required to provide 172 days of instruction, based on state law requiring it provide the same amount of days that it provided in the 2009-2010 school year. Next year, schools in Michigan must provide 175 days of school and 1,098 hour instruction.
