Winter storm warning issued for Oceana County.
OCEANA COUNTY – The US National Weather Service in Grand Rapids has issued a winter storm warning for Oceana, Mason, Muskegon, Newaygo and Lake counties that goes into effect Thursday, Feb. 4, at 4 p.m. and continues until Friday, Feb. 5, at 7 p.m.
Expect heavy snow and blowing snow with accumulations of 6-9 inches and winds gusting to 40 mph.
“Travel could be very difficult,” states NWS. ”Areas of blowing snow will significantly reduce visibility with white-out conditions at times. Temperatures will fall quickly overnight, and icy patches will form on the roads which will become snow-covered. Wind chills will be around 0 degrees Friday.
“If you must travel, keep an extra flashlight, food, and water in your vehicle in case of an emergency.”
