ROTHBURY – The Rothbury Village Council approved a mass gathering permit for the 2020 Electric Forest Festival at the Double JJ Resort with a 5-1 vote Tuesday, Oct. 22, during special session, according to Village Clerk Carol Witzke.
The council accepted the permit – with provisions, Witkze said, and now it goes back to the event producers for their approval.
The council voted 5-1 to approve the permit with Village President Scott Beishuizen casting the lone “no” vote, the clerk said. Councilman Vern Talmadge was absent.
A written request for the meeting minutes has been submitted to the village for further details about the permit. Village Attorney Matt Mills said he could not comment on the permit details, because the document has not yet been signed. Although, the action took place during a public meeting.
A call to Beishuizen seeking further information was not immediately returned. A call to a LiveLoud official, one of EF’s promoters, was not immediately returned.
The gigantic music festival held annually at the end of June is in its 10th year. EF began in 2011, followed its predecessor ROTHBURY in 2008 and 2009.
More details about the 2020 event will be provided when they are available.
