Pleasant Afternoon celebrates 100 years of Mears Newz

MEARS — Join the Oceana County Historical & Genealogical Society for its 100-Year Celebration of the Mears Newz during the Pleasant Afternoon Celebration and Red Tie Sale Sunday from 1-4 p.m. in the Oceana Historical Park, at 5809 Fox Rd.

The 100 Vehicle Parade starts at 1p.m.

The Mears Newz, known as the world’s smallest newspaper, was written by eccentric editor Swift Lathers.

Enjoy homemade pie by Mort Wiegand and coffee served in the conference room. Tour the park’s historically-fascinating buildings, including Trapper Ralph’s one-room cabin, Oceana Historical Park Museum, the Transportation Museum, the Robinson Exhibit, Boynton Cottage, the Swedish Mission Church and more.
